EXCELLENT Based on 162 reviews Kodie TangJuly 7, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was able to schedule a same day appointment. Ben came out to look at my garage door. I backed into it and was scared there was damage. He checked it out to determine it was just cosmetic. I super appreciated the prompt response and honesty. Thank you. Disa Juarez-ValerioJune 17, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. UPDATE: within minutes of posting a 3 star review the company reached out to discuss what had occurred. The message from the manager Sean said he wished I would have contacted them prior to posting and "I will do everything possible to make it right with you to make sure you are feeling good with doing business with us and change that review to 5 stars." A few minutes later I received a call from Ben and to be honest I was on the defense expected to be bullied into changing my review but that wasn't the case at all. He apologized, explained how important customer service is to them and he repeated more than once that he didn't want me to feel pressured into changing my review. He listened to my concerns and was perfectly professional throughout, in the endhe gave me a partial refund and made sure that I was fully satisfied before we hung up. I was very impressed by how he handled this situation, he deserves a raise. Now I don't know about you, but to me, this is the epitome of customer service excellence. Can I now recommend this company? Absolutely! With the caveat that I definitely recommend getting an additional competitor's quote so you will end up with the peace of mind of knowing that you contracted not only great company, but at a great price. (Original review below)....... Disclaimer: I did not get a comparative quote from another company and wished I had. First of all, I will say that service was fast and professional. I just had a few things that left me feeling icky. A new garage door opener with remotes and new sensors was replaced today. I felt the labor fee was on the high end of fair. However, I do not for the life of me understand why a $259 liftmaster opener was marked up to $850. I was told it was because they offer a lifetime guarantee. But only one year of labor. I asked if I could get the garage door without the guarantee and was offered a nice discount on the labor fee in return. Good customer service for sure but still wishing I had gotten a second quote to find out if this is industry standard. Then it came time to pay. They accept venmo, cashapp etc. But charge a 3.5% fee for their credit card. I wasn't prepared for that. I've never been charged a credit card fee by a contractor before and just left me feeling like this company is greedy. SAFETY TIPS
When Do You Need a Residential Garage Door Services?
If your garage door feels heavy, makes loud noises, or starts moving unevenly, it’s likely more than just wear and tear. Cracked panels, slow openers, or cables slipping off the drum can cause bigger problems down the road. Doors that shake or slam shut usually have spring tension issues or track misalignment. These aren’t just minor glitches—they affect daily use and safety.
Weather plays a big role too. In Portland, damp seasons can cause older metal components to rust or wood overlays to swell, leading to door drag and opener strain. If your system is over 10 years old or was never adjusted after installation, it might not meet current performance or safety standards.
Other signs include gaps under the door, sudden jerking movements, or delays when opening and closing. Routine check-ups help spot these issues before they break something bigger—especially springs, rollers, and hinges, which handle the most stress.
If any of this sounds familiar, it’s time to get things looked at by PDX Garage Door before something fails completely.

Why Choose Us
Residential Garage Door Services
Older homes in Portland often have tight framing, warped headers, or sloped garage floors, which makes new installs a bit more technical. We’re used to that. Installing a door isn’t just bolting panels together—it’s about spring tension, drum positioning, bracket placement, and track alignment. We’ve corrected dozens of systems that failed early because someone skipped checking side clearance or mounted the opener rail too low.
Emergency jobs usually come from broken extension springs, frayed cables, or worn rollers throwing doors off-track during the rainy season. That’s why we use long-life torsion springs, stainless cables, and sealed ball-bearing rollers that can take Portland’s shifts in moisture and temperature.
We also know most breakdowns happen after 10,000 cycles—so every door we install is tuned for long-term use. Pre-checks and follow-up adjustments aren’t just add-ons—they’re what keep things running safely.

about us
professionals in Garage DOOR SERVICES
Tight driveways, shared walls, mixed building codes—Residential Garage Door Services Portland isn’t always straightforward, especially in older homes near Ladd’s Addition or the West Hills. At PDX Garage Door, we install steel, composite, and aluminum doors built to handle the rain, slope, and load demands of real homes here.
We work with brands like Clopay, CHI, Amarr, and Northwest Door, matching systems with LiftMaster, Genie, and Sommer openers for smooth integration. Whether you’re going with flush panels or carriage-style, every door is balanced, reinforced, and built for daily use.
We handle installs that require low-headroom kits, upgraded tracks, and custom bracket setups. Portland’s weather makes sealing critical, so we finish every job with weatherstripping that holds up through wet winters. If a door’s not level, tensioned, and supported correctly, problems show up fast. We make sure they don’t.

FAQ’s
Frequently Ask Questions
If your door is shaking, making grinding noises, or won’t stay in place when open, it’s time for a check-up. These are signs of worn cables, spring issues, or track misalignment. We often see this after seasonal changes in Portland, where moisture impacts materials. Ignoring it can lead to snapped hardware or opener burnout. A service call now can prevent bigger—and more expensive—issues later.
Insulated steel doors work well in Portland’s damp, changing climate. They resist rust and help maintain indoor temperatures. Many homeowners also go for carriage-style or flush-panel designs, depending on the home’s exterior. We install doors from CHI, Amarr, and Clopay that are built to handle daily use and wet weather. Choosing a style that fits your structure and driveway layout is just as important as picking the right material.
We recommend once a year for most homes. If your garage is used frequently—or attached to your living space—it’s smart to schedule a check-up every 6–8 months. Common maintenance includes checking spring tension, inspecting cables, tightening hardware, and lubricating moving parts. In Portland, moisture can cause faster wear on rollers and bearings, so keeping everything moving smoothly helps avoid breakdowns when you least expect them.
We inspect key parts like springs, rollers, tracks, hinges, and the opener system. If anything’s loose, out of balance, or worn, we either adjust or recommend replacement. We also check safety sensors and confirm proper opener limits. Portland homes sometimes deal with track shifting due to foundation settling, so we make sure everything’s aligned. It’s about keeping your door safe, quiet, and running reliably with no surprises.
It’s risky. If your springs are unbalanced or the cables are fraying, using the opener could cause further damage—or snap a part under tension. Openers aren’t built to carry the full weight of a garage door. We’ve responded to emergency calls where doors got stuck mid-cycle or dropped hard because the opener was overworking. If anything feels off, it’s best to stop use and get it checked.
