We handle full tune-up services that cover spring tension, cable wear, roller condition, and opener calibration. In a city like Portland, where weather shifts quickly, parts expand, rust, and loosen faster than you’d expect. A yearly tune-up keeps things moving smoothly, avoids sudden breakdowns, and helps your garage door last longer without surprise failures.
EXCELLENT Based on 162 reviews Kodie TangJuly 7, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was able to schedule a same day appointment. Ben came out to look at my garage door. I backed into it and was scared there was damage. He checked it out to determine it was just cosmetic. I super appreciated the prompt response and honesty. Thank you. Disa Juarez-ValerioJune 17, 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. UPDATE: within minutes of posting a 3 star review the company reached out to discuss what had occurred. The message from the manager Sean said he wished I would have contacted them prior to posting and "I will do everything possible to make it right with you to make sure you are feeling good with doing business with us and change that review to 5 stars." A few minutes later I received a call from Ben and to be honest I was on the defense expected to be bullied into changing my review but that wasn't the case at all. He apologized, explained how important customer service is to them and he repeated more than once that he didn't want me to feel pressured into changing my review. He listened to my concerns and was perfectly professional throughout, in the endhe gave me a partial refund and made sure that I was fully satisfied before we hung up. I was very impressed by how he handled this situation, he deserves a raise. Now I don't know about you, but to me, this is the epitome of customer service excellence. Can I now recommend this company? Absolutely! With the caveat that I definitely recommend getting an additional competitor's quote so you will end up with the peace of mind of knowing that you contracted not only great company, but at a great price. (Original review below)....... Disclaimer: I did not get a comparative quote from another company and wished I had. First of all, I will say that service was fast and professional. I just had a few things that left me feeling icky. A new garage door opener with remotes and new sensors was replaced today. I felt the labor fee was on the high end of fair. However, I do not for the life of me understand why a $259 liftmaster opener was marked up to $850. I was told it was because they offer a lifetime guarantee. But only one year of labor. I asked if I could get the garage door without the guarantee and was offered a nice discount on the labor fee in return. Good customer service for sure but still wishing I had gotten a second quote to find out if this is industry standard. Then it came time to pay. They accept venmo, cashapp etc. But charge a 3.5% fee for their credit card. I wasn't prepared for that. I've never been charged a credit card fee by a contractor before and just left me feeling like this company is greedy. SAFETY TIPS
When Do You Need a Residential Garage Door Tune Up Services?
If your garage door starts making strange noises, moves slower than usual, or doesn’t open as smoothly as it used to, it’s probably time for a check-up. These aren’t just quirks—they’re signs that parts like springs, rollers, and cables are under stress. A door that jerks, tilts, or slams shut could be dealing with worn bearings, loose hardware, or misaligned tracks
In Portland, changing seasons bring moisture that affects metal components, causing rust or stiffness in moving parts. Even newer doors can develop issues if they’re used several times a day without maintenance.
Regular tune-ups help prevent emergencies—like cables snapping or openers stalling halfway. If you hear grinding, popping, or banging sounds, or notice the door isn’t sitting flush when closed, that’s a sign it’s struggling and needs service before something breaks.
Doors go through thousands of cycles every year. Ignoring small problems now often leads to bigger, more expensive ones later.

Why Choose Us
Residential Garage Door Tune Up Service
A tune-up isn’t just about noise—it’s about wear you can’t see. A stretched cable or off-balance spring can cause a full system failure if left unchecked. We’ve seen rollers break off and panels drop because hardware went loose over time. In Portland, changes in temperature and moisture swell wooden doors, rust brackets, and throw off alignment.
Most breakdowns come from small things—frayed lift cables, loose track bolts, weak hinges. That’s why we use long-life parts, check opener load limits, and tighten every moving piece. A garage door goes through over 1,000 cycles a year, and even a one-inch misalignment can drag the entire system down.
Emergency calls often happen because no one checked spring torque or cleaned out the bearing plates. We tune systems from brands like Clopay, Amarr, CHI, and inspect LiftMaster, Genie, and Sommer openers for travel limit issues.

Our tune-ups include lubrication, cable inspection, safety testing, and spring balance checks. One loose bracket can throw an opener rail out of line, and in Portland’s wet season, that happens fast. FAQ’s
Frequently Ask Questions
Once a year is ideal for most homes. If your garage door sees heavy use—like opening multiple times a day—you may need service every 6 to 8 months. Regular tune-ups catch small problems before they lead to broken springs or opener failures. Skipping this basic maintenance often leads to early wear on high-stress parts like cables, rollers, and hinges.
A standard tune-up covers inspection and adjustment of springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks, and opener systems. We tighten bolts, balance the door, lubricate moving parts, and test safety features like sensors and travel limits. This keeps your door moving smoothly and safely. It also helps extend the lifespan of key components and reduces the chance of costly emergencies down the line.
Portland’s damp and fluctuating weather causes metal parts to expand, rust, or seize up—especially springs, rollers, and bearings. Wooden overlays can swell and throw off track alignment. We often see doors slow down or tilt because moisture gets into moving parts. Regular tune-ups in Portland help protect against these common weather-related issues and keep everything running the way it should through every season.
Noisy operation is often an early warning sign. Grinding, screeching, or popping sounds usually point to dry rollers, loose hardware, or spring tension issues. Using the door without service can make things worse and increase wear on the opener. We recommend stopping use until it’s checked. That small noise could lead to a snapped cable or off-track door if left alone.
All doors need tune-ups—steel, aluminum, composite, or wood. Heavier doors and insulated models tend to wear parts faster, especially when paired with older openers. In cities like Portland, where dampness is a factor, even newer doors need adjustments to keep them aligned and smooth. We service systems from Clopay, CHI, Amarr, and Wayne Dalton, and tune them for your home’s specific setup and usage level.
